WHY I AM AN EXTREME CONSERVATIVE.

Although it's been a while since I've really sat down and wrote anything about politics, I used to write passionately and often about my thoughts regarding recent happenings etc.  Until this most recent election I have never once missed exercising my right to cast my vote.  Note I only missed this one due to severe illness and a glitch in the computer system when it comes to changing my address to be able to vote absentee.  I was not happy about that!  I strongly believe that we hold a responsibility to follow, study, research and participate in deciding who will be our leaders and how, be it a strict and strong government you desire, a minimal control government as was initially our founding father's intentions, or perhaps someplace in the middle. When I write I realize I will slant my writing with my opinion, after all this is my blog, that said I do try to be open and I always encourage anyone and everyone to do your own research!   You don't have to take my word for it.  In fact I don't want you to take mine or any once source's word.  I encourage you to use me, or other sources of information such as FOX NEWS or MSNBC or whatever it may be as your stepping stone or rather just your source where you heard it...and then run with it, get on the internet and google, go and check it out.  That means going government websites and verifying.  When these next presidential elections come up and you're faced with deciding 1) who will represent your party of choice best and then 2) who will represent our country best?  You can go in to Congressional records and find out for yourself who showed up and voted exactly how on everything.  It's ALL public record!  Most all of what our politicians do is public record.  I say most because some of the military moves we wouldn't want to be public as it might endanger our troops.  To be honest, probably too much of that is public but that's a different issue.  You get the point.

Now over the years as I've posted I've often had shocked people make comments saying they were surprised that I am a conservative.  I do care about people very much!  I like liberals music (not exactly a reason to vote liberal but that was one reason someone once gave me for their shock).  I'm a rather "free spirit".  I am in favor of legalized marijuana.  I am in favor of the rights of homosexual marriages to be recognized by our courts.  Things like this have caused many people to be surprised when I say not only am I conservative but I am an extreme conservative.

So how can this be?  Let me explain.  I believe in small government and I believe in people.  I don't want my rights or your rights being taken away at any level.  I think that the government's job is to establish a military to serve and protect our country and form infrastructure, and pass minimal laws that protect us from one another.  Not get involved deciding what is right for us individually or morally.  As long as what you or I do in private does not hurt another human being then it shouldn't be an issue.  I also believe that most laws should be perpetuated, contemplated and instigated on a local level rather than a federal level.  What's good for the people of LA for example might not be in the best interest of the people of small town Sharpsville, Indiana.   I would much rather have to go out and hunt for a deer to dress and keep in my freezer along with the vegetables my family raised over the summer to eat than to have Uncle Same provide for me but decide that what is best if for my family to eat unsalted, no sugar added pea soup every meal. (it's just an example!)  I would rather my children be taught what the Koran is as well but also be encouraged to express their Christianity and be allowed to write a paper saying that Jesus is their Hero without reprimand.  It does not threaten me to have my children exposed to others beliefs as long as they are allowed to practice theirs without ridicule or disrespect.  Likewise I have raised my children and I follow that same rule to respect others beliefs.  Respecting others does not mean I have to compromise my own at all.  I believe that is the beauty of our Great Country!

I am conservative because I like thinking and providing for myself.  I don't want the government to take over that role for me.  I believe that once we give them that position they will not give it back.  It's a freedom gone.  It might seem trivial at the time but they add up.  There is a reason they say "dictators rise to power"  They don't just get there overnight!  They subtly sneak in usually, while we show them such adoration that before you know it we have just handed them our lives.

The Bible says "give a man a fish he eats for a day, teach a man to fish he eats for a lifetime"  I think that the truly caring and loving thing to do is to teach people in need how to provide better.  That's not to say don't help for a time but while we are shouldn't we be guiding them? Or teaching them to fish?

THE DANGERS OF SOME HOME FLEA TREATMENT REMEDIES

Our dog, Lucy and my daughters beloved cat, Baby had a minor flea problem towards the end of this summer.  Given that it was the end of the season and all the hoopla about how the name brand flea treatments are "toxic" and "poisonous" to our furry family members I scanned the web for more "natural" home remedies and came across a common one-Cedarwood essential oil.  In the youtube video a man goes on and on about how toxic the one's the vet offers are and how this is so perfectly harmless but effective and proceeds to apply it directly and very generously to his golden retriever.

What he doesn't tell you is that Cat's body's are different than ours and they metabolize things differently.  Many essential oils cannot be metabolized by Cats as their livers lack certain enzymes necessary to process them so their bodies store it away poisoning their tiny bodies.  Many cats have died from this.  I'm currently praying my daughters Baby doesn't become one of those!  Further 2 drops of any essential oil is enough for a 150 pound man.  The amount that man put on his dog would be toxic to any living creature as he applied it undiluted and directly in abundance.  Last the smell, it is incredibly strong!  And animals sense of smell is far far more sensitive than ours!  A dog can smell your emotions!  Now if a dogs sense of smell is THAT strong, imagine what that  offensive smell of undiluted essential oil over applied to it's coat was doing to his poor nose!

You should also know that Cat's skin is thinner than dogs.  Therefore more sensitive and more easily irritated.  One must be cautious...even shampoos made for dogs cannot be used on cats.  Our kitty babies are very unique and must be treated as such.

So please please read up on home remedies....they might just be old wives tales.  And not at all what they claim.  Thankfully we did not treat Lucy after seeing what it did to Baby.  Now we are all just praying hard for Baby.
